The iconic festival La Notte della Taranta returns in 2026 to celebrate the energizing rhythms and rich cultural tradition of pizzica, the folk music of Southern Italy. Every August, this popular music event animates the Salento region with a series of concerts and cultural events, culminating in the grand final Concertone in Melpignano.
The Itinerant Festival Across Salento
La Notte della Taranta is a traveling festival of folk music, dance and culture that brings local squares and historic towns to life throughout the Salento area. In 2026 the festival will feature a vibrant schedule of shows, workshops, folk dances and cultural gatherings designed to immerse visitors in the authentic spirit of Salento.
Through each event, musicians and performers celebrate the tradition of pizzica, blending it with contemporary influences and creative expression.
The Melpignano Concertone – August 22, 2026
The highlight of the festival is the Concertone final show, set for Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Melpignano (LE), in front of the historic convent of the Augustinians.
For its 29th edition, artistic direction is entrusted to singer-songwriter Ermal Meta, appointed Maestro Concertatore to reinterpret the traditional sounds of the pizzica with a modern, Mediterranean vision.
The 2026 edition celebrates the Mediterranean as a space of connection, exchange and shared histories, reinforcing the festival’s role as a bridge between tradition and contemporary music.
